Search All Offices Option in Global Search

Overview

This enhancement introduces a Search All Offices capability to Zenople’s Global Search feature, enabling users to search data across all offices they are authorized to access — without switching the selected office in Data Access. Previously, users had to manually change their Data Access office to locate information from another location, which disrupted workflow continuity.

The new Search All Offices option streamlines this process by providing a single, unified search experience that respects all existing permission and access controls. This improvement enhances usability, reduces time spent on manual office changes, and offers greater visibility across authorized business units. The feature is configurable at the tenant level, ensuring flexibility for organizations to enable or disable it based on their operational preferences.

This update ensures full compliance with Zenople’s security framework. It does not grant additional access privileges—users can view results across offices they are authorized for but cannot open detail pages from offices that are not currently active in Data Access.

Functionality

  • Available within the Global Search bar across Zenople modules.
  • Controlled by a new tenant-level configurationoption:
    • Option Name: EnableSearchAllOffices
    • Type: Boolean (True/False)
    • Default Value: False
    • Configurable under Option > Common.
  • When EnableSearchAllOffices = True, a Search All Offices button appears beside the existing search icon.
  • Users can trigger a search that spans all offices they are authorized to access without changing the current Data Access selection.
  • Search results include data from multiple offices but maintain the current Data Access context unchanged.
  • When attempting to open a detail record belonging to a different office, users receive the standard access-denied message.
  • The existing search icon retains its standard data accessed office search behavior.
  • All searches and access validations continue to follow current security and permission models, ensuring no expansion of data access beyond authorization limits.
  • Backward compatibility is maintained — if the option is set to False, the Search All Offices feature is completely hidden, and Global Search continues operating as before.

Additional Notes

  • The feature extends only the search scope, not access permissions.
  • The selected office in Data Access remains unchanged after performing a global search.
  • Search All Offices enhances user convenience while maintaining the integrity of Zenople’s role-based security model.
  • Tenant-level configuration ensures consistent rollout control and flexibility for enterprise clients.
