Break On Demand for Employee in ZenTime

Prev Next

ZenTime now supports Break on Demand, allowing employees to start and end breaks at any point during their clocked-in session, without a fixed break schedule. The system dynamically shows only the actions available based on the employee's current punch state, preventing overlapping breaks and ensuring all break time is accurately recorded against the employee's shift.

Functionality

For Admin Users — Enabling Break on Demand

  • Navigate to Setup > TimeClock > TimeClock Setup and open the relevant ZenTime configuration.
  • Locate the Break on Demand property and set it to True to enable, False to disable.
  • Save. The change takes effect the next time the ZenTime loads its settings.

For Employees Taking a Break on Demand

  • Clock in at the ZenTime device. Break In and Clock Out buttons appear.
  • Tap Break In to start a break , the system records the break start time and Break In is replaced by Break Out.
  • Tap Break Out when done, Break In and Clock Out become available again.
  • Repeat as many times as needed during the shift; each break must be closed before a new one starts.
  • To clock out, Break Out must be tapped first if a break is active, Clock Out is not available while a break is open.

Notes

  • Break on Demand must be enabled to function through Time Clock setup.
  • Overlapping breaks are not allowed, always close an open break before starting another.
  • Clock Out does not auto-close an open break; Break Out must be done first.
  • In TMS (Web), multiple breaks appear as combined break units, not individual timestamps.
