# Matching Expiration Dates of I-9 Documents

## Matching Expiration Dates for List A and List C Documents in I-9 Sections 1 and 2 and Validated

To ensure compliance with employment eligibility verification regulations and improve accuracy, the system will validate that the expiration date entered in Section 1 of Form I-9 matches the expiration date entered in Section 2 for specific List A and List C documents. This reduces errors and enforces consistency across both sections of the form.

### Key Functionality

- **Validation Scope:** Checks expiration date consistency between Section 1 and Section 2 of Form I-9 for the following document types:
  - **List A1 Documents:**
    - Employment Eligibility Document (Form I-766)
    - Foreign Passport with work-authorized nonimmigrant status
  - **List A3 Documents:**
    - Form I-20
    - Form DS-2019
  - **List C Document:**
    - Employment Eligibility Document issued by DHS
- **Validation Behavior:**
  - The system compares the expiration dates entered in Section 1 and Section 2 for matching documents.
  - If the dates do not match, the system prevents submission of Form I-9.
- **Error Messaging:**
  - Displays a clear and specific error message indicating the mismatch:
***"Expiration date in Section 1 must match the expiration date in Section 2 for [Document Name]."***
