# Controlled Reopening of Review I-9 with E-Verify Preservation

This feature ensures that reopening a completed Review I-9 task does not unintentionally impact a completed E-Verify process unless explicitly directed by the user. It matters because E-Verify records are compliance-sensitive and must not be reset, deleted, or recreated without clear intent from office staff.

**Functionality**

- This functionality appears when users reopen a completed Review I-9 task within Zenople, typically in compliance-related workflows under employee onboarding processes.
- When a completed Review I-9 task has an associated completed E-Verify task, the system displays a confirmation prompt:
  - "You are reopening the I-9. Does your change require E-Verify to be done again? If yes, do you want to reopen E-Verify as well?"
- The prompt provides two explicit choices:
  - Yes
  - No
- If the user selects **No**:
  - Only the Review I-9 task is reopened.
  - The associated E-Verify task remains in completed status.
  - Existing E-Verify records and documents remain unchanged and accessible.
  - No new E-Verify case is created or required.
  - Users retain the ability to manually reopen or reassign the E-Verify task later if needed.
- If the user selects **Yes**:
  - Both the Review I-9 and E-Verify tasks are reopened.
  - The existing E-Verify case and associated document are automatically deleted.
  - The new E-Verify process will use the latest updated I-9 information when completed again.
- For scenarios where the E-Verify task is not completed:
  - Reopening Review I-9 follows existing system behavior with no changes.
- After reopening Review I-9 without reopening E-Verify:
  - Office staff can edit and complete the I-9 form.
  - E-Verify is not required to be reprocessed unless explicitly initiated.
- When E-Verify is later reopened or reassigned:
  - The task status changes to Assigned.
  - Previous E-Verify records and documents are removed.
  - A new E-Verify process uses updated I-9 information.
- Upon completion of the new E-Verify task:
  - The system automatically downloads the new E-Verify document.
  - The document is stored in Document Navigation.
