# Added Job Source and Job Source Description

A new non-mandatory **Job Source** field is now available on all job forms (Temp Job, Direct Hire Job, and Scheduled Job). This field allows users to record where a job requisition originated. For example, through a sales visit, job fair, website listing, or social media, making it easier to view and analyze job acquisition channels. When "Other" is selected as the source, a required **Describe** field appears so users can provide a specific description.

### Functionality

#### Setting the Job Source when Creating or Editing a Job

1. Navigate to the relevant job form, **Temp Job Manager (TJM)**, **Direct Hire Manager (DHM)**, or **Scheduled Job Manager (JSM)**.
2. Open an existing job for editing, or create a new one.
3. Scroll down to the **Show More** section of the form and expand it.
4. Locate the **Job Source** dropdown field.
5. Select the option that best describes how this job originated. The available default options are:

| **Option** | **When to use** |
| --- | --- |
| Sales Visit | Job originated from an in-person sales visit |
| Internal Power Hour | Job originated from an internal sales push |
| Email Blast | Job originated from an email marketing campaign |
| Sales Phone Call | Job originated from an outbound sales call |
| Job Fair | Job originated from a job fair event |
| Trade Show | Job originated from a trade show or industry event |
| Website | Job was sourced via the company website |
| Social Media | Job was sourced via a social media channel |
| Client | Job was referred or sourced directly by a client |
| Contact Portal | Job was submitted through the Contact Portal |
| Other | Job source does not fit any of the above categories |

1. If you select **Other**, a **Describe** field appears beneath the dropdown. Enter a short description of the job source (up to 1,000 characters). This field is required when "Other" is selected.
2. Save the job. The Job Source and description (if provided) are stored with the job record.

**Note:** The Job Source field is optional. You are not required to fill it in to save a job.

#### Contact Portal Jobs

When a job is submitted through the **Contact Portal**, the system automatically sets the Job Source to **Contact Portal**. This value can be edited after the job is created if needed.

#### Copying a Job

When you use the **Copy Job** functionality to duplicate an existing job, the Job Source value is carried over from the original job. You can update it after copying if the new job has a different source.

#### Managing Job Source Options

The list of available Job Source options is managed in **ATM > List Item** under the **Job Source** category.

1. Navigate to **ATM > List Item**.
2. Find the **Job Source** category.
3. Add, edit, or deactivate list items as required to reflect your organization’s tracking needs.

### Notes

- **Existing jobs** created before this feature was deployed will have a blank Job Source. No automatic backfill is applied to historical records.
- **The Describe field** only appears when "Other" is selected as the Job Source. If the Job Source is later changed to a value other than "Other", the description is automatically cleared.
- **Validation:** The Describe field does not accept empty spaces or whitespace-only input. If such input is entered, the message "Please describe the job source." is displayed.
- **Field location:** Job Source is found under the **Show More** section on all applicable job forms, it is not displayed in the default (collapsed) view.
